Bows and Arrows: Lore and Lure

The building located at 210 N. 6th Street was designed and built by the LeCompte family in 1897. It was used as a residential dwelling (comprised of two apartments) until 1945, and tended to house members of the Central District Fire Building next door. Originally, the building had both a gable roof and an upstairs balcony, but both of these architectural details were lost at an unknown date. In 1945, the building switched to mixed commercial and residential use. It was inhabited by Ronald Robison, who achieved his boyhood dream of opening an archery store, Bows and Arrows, somewhere between 1950 and 1953. In 1977, the Bows and Arrows building was designated as part of the Boise Historic District by the National Register of Historic Places. Since then, it has housed a variety of small businesses as office space.
